Temperatures quickly climb across nation

Temperatures are soaring today across New Zealand as warm winds from the northerly quarter continue to blow.

As of 11am it was already 21 degrees in Auckland and Northland, with WeatherWatch.co.nz predicting Auckland should reach 23 degrees in the shade today.

Hamilton, Tauranga and Gisborne are on 20 while Hastings is on 23 and Napier on 21.

The hottest part of the day is often between 1 and 3pm.

The lower North Island remains cooler though.  Wellington has a gusty northerly and 16 degrees, it’s 15 in Lower Hutt and Paraparaumu.

In the South Island Christchurch and Blenheim share 24 degrees.

Southland has a big temperature range this morning with Invercargill on 12 degrees at 11:30am while further north in Lumsden it’s 20 degrees.

Hi There Team

Its very warm in Christchurch now. The airport has us on 27 degree but it is now 30.3 degrees in the Halswell/Hoon Hay area with not a breath of wind all day to date. First time this season have hit the magic 30!
