A low in the Tasman Sea drawing in an easterly quarter airflow over New Zealand brings warmer than average temperatures to western parts of the country today. South Westland will have the sunniest skies. The warmest temperatures will likely be about Northland and Auckland up around 17 to 18 degrees. The coolest temperatures will be about Central Otago around 7 degrees.
Overnight tonight the coolest lows will be about Southland and Central Otago getting down to 0 or -1 by dawn on Saturday.
