Temperature Trends: Overnight Sunday and daytime Monday

> From the WeatherWatch archives

Average to above average overnight lows for the North Island tonight, looking particularly warmer than normal about Hawkes Bay and Gisborne due to a west to northwest airflow. Eastern Wellington and Kapiti start to get a bit cool towards dawn tomorrow due to a southerly that arrives overnight. Average to below average lows for the South Island tonight.

Eastern regions generally fair better than western areas on Monday due to a strong west to southwesterly airflow. Very cold temperatures continue to affect Southland and parts of Otago with showers and strong southwesterlies for much of the day. Auckland, Northland, Bay Of Plenty, East Cape and northern Hawkes Bay are average to above average but it will be a bit windy with blustery west to southwest winds for much of the day.
