A subtropical northeasterly airflow getting pulled over New Zealand continues to bring warmer than normal temperatures to most of New Zealand tonight and the next few days. The South Island in particular sees temperatures 4 to 8 degrees above normal for many as can be seen in the below map.
Not much changes on Saturday, the South Island in particular continues to have a warmer than normal day. The days highs will be 15 to 16 degrees shared by many. Inland parts of both Islands, Wellington and Invercargill may only get to 12 to 13 degrees however.
