A northwesterly airflow brings warm temperatures to New Zealand today, most regions will be warmer than normal. Getting into the low twenties for most in the east and about Northland / Auckland. Temperatures about the West Coast of the South Island a little cooler staying in the mid teens.
A ridge of high pressure brings cooler then average overnight lows than otherwise would be expected at this time of year for the upper North Island tonight. The lowest overnight temperatures will likely be about the Central Plateau and inland Buller / Central Otago in the low to mid single figure arena. Southland and Fiordland sees warmer than average overnight lows due to a northerly airflow.
