A ridge of high pressure and generally clear skies bring cold overnight temperatures to the inner North Island and much of the inner South Island tonight, frosts likely to extend to the coast about the eastern South Island in spots also.
The coldest overnight lows will likely be about the inner South Island getting down to -3 to -4 in spots, the Mackenzie Country is a good candidate for this. The warmest overnight lows will be coastal Northland getting down to 10 degrees.
A warmer than average trend for New Zealand tomorrow, highs in the lows to mid teens for many centres around the country with the warmest temperatures naturally about Northland and Auckland getting up to 16 to 17 degrees. The coldest day time highs will be about Central Otago and the Mackenzie Country, getting to about 7 to 8 degrees.
