Cold southwesterly winds will start to move out later today or overnight for most of New Zealand. Notably the east of the North Island and northeastern parts of the South Island see colder than average temperatures today, most other place are average with parts of the West Coast a little above average.
Look for cold overnight lows to develop tonight with frosty conditions possible south of about rural southern Auckland, frosts will be more likely about inland parts and a little less likely about coastal fringe areas. Southland and coastal Otago keeps frosts at bay due to cloud cover.
