A cold southwesterly airflow brings chilly temperatures to eastern New Zealand today, a little warmer in the west. Today’s max will likely be about Northland, the coolest spots will be about Central Otago and the Central Plateau.
A ridge of high pressure moves over tonight bringing cold overnight lows to many, frosts likely about most of the South Island by dawn on Friday. Frosty about the interior of the North Island also, above freezing about coastal areas.
