Swarm of quakes affect Canterbury

Cantabrians experienced a number of small jolts this morning with several aftershocks across the region, according to GNS Science.

The first was a 3.5 magnitude quake within 5km of Darfield at a depth of 7km at 1.15am.

It was followed by a 3.8 magnitude quake 10km south of Darfield at 2.37am, also at a depth of 7km, a 3.5 20km south-east of Kaikoura at a depth of 5km at 6.03am, a 3.1 10km south-west of Christchurch at a depth of 7km at 7.28am, and a 3.0 10km south-west of Christchurch at a depth of 5km at 8.10am.

Never felt any of them but felt an unrecorded one last night around 11pm.
