Ominous clouds around Auckland yesterday and today – the showers are clearing however. Photo by David Shone of Auckland.
After a chilly and damp couple of days for some areas this week, it looks as if the sun will be seen over much of the country during the weekend.
A high is moving in and it should clear out any showers tomorrow morning in the north and east of the North Island. The best day for northerners should be on Sunday with the big yellow expected to hang around all day.
Mainlanders tomorrow should have their best day of the weekend, because on Sunday, the nor’ wester starts to build and rain should move up along the West Coast with a few lighter falls moving eastwards. It shouldn’t be too cold though and the mercury could top 20 degrees in parts of Canterbury in the fohn wind.
Just a reminder that daylight saving is just a fortnight away and even though early Spring can be a bit of a lottery with what we can expect weatherwise, this weekend would have been looking good if it had begun 2 weeks earlier…let’s hope there are many more to come in the upcoming months!
