The humid sub-tropical airflow continues today with more drizzle, patchy rain and cloud. There will be more heavy falls today too, especially around Taranaki and the north west South Island.
NORTH ISLAND:
Patchy rain with a mix of drizzle and dry spells also. Very humid north to north east winds (up to 100% humidity). Heavy rain developing around Taranaki region and the entire south western side of the North Island from Waitomo to Wairarapa may be exposed to heavy rain with a chance of localised flooding. Gisborne may have some wet weather otherwise dry and fairly warm there. Isolated thunderstorms possible around northern and western areas.
Highs: 23 to 27
SOUTH ISLAND
Heavy rain around Nelson eases later in the day. Patchy rain spreads further south into Caterbury and potentially even some patchy brief rain or spits around Otago and Southland – but we’re not expecting much. Winds will be humid from the east to north east in the upper half of the island, lighter variable winds further south.
Highs: 20 to 24
