Sunday’s national forecast – Downpours ease in the north, warmth returns to the south

A narrow front continues to slowly cross the North Island from west to east while West Coast downpours fade away as a north to north west flow arrives.

North Island:
Heavy downpours, mainly in the east like Bay of Plenty and East Cape, Gisborne areas etc. A few isolated heavy downpours may also flare up behind the front in Northland, Waikato, Hawke’s Bay. Elsewhere it’s mainly dry with a mix of sun and cloud and maybe an isolated normal shower. Winds are light and are mainly from the northerly quarter.
Highs: 19 to 25

South Island:
Showers fade on the West Coast, dry or mainly dry elsewhere. Light variable winds, mainly from the northerly quarter.
Highs: 18 to 23
