Upper North Island

Heavy thundery rain clearing early on this morning, sunny spells then develop with the chance of a remaining shower or two. Northerly winds tend more northwest this morning. About the Bay Of Plenty, heavy thundery rain eases to showers around midday which finally clear in the evening, sunny spells gradually increase from afternoon.

Lower North Island

Heavy rain early this morning clears then expect sunny spells to develop, there may be the odd remaining shower about. North to northwest winds, strong about Wellington. Along the east coast expect a brief period of rain this morning then clearing around midday, mostly sunny in the afternoon with warm temperatures.

Upper South Island

Rain this morning for most, clearing about the east coast in the afternoon with sunny areas then developing. Winds fairly variable. Periods of rain continue on the West Coast easing to showers in the evening.

Lower South Island

This morning, sunny spells and some cloud for Southland and Otago with light easterlies. Some rain on the West Coast north of Fiordland, areas of rain developing for much of South and Mid Canterbury also with variable winds. A few afternoon showers develop about inland Southland and Central Otago then clear in the evening, rain about South and Mid Canterbury gradually clears during the afternoon with some sun making an appearance, perhaps later in the day. Rain north of Fiordland on the West Coast eases to showers in the afternoon then clears later in the evening.
