Upper North Island

A mix of sunny areas and some cloud today with southwesterly breezes, northerly breezes about Bay Of Plenty. Mostly sunny in Gisborne, light winds pick up from the northeast in the afternoon.
HIGHS: 20-23

Lower North Island

Sunny areas and some cloud, westerly breezes tending more northwesterly about and south of Kapiti. Some cloud develops about Kapiti and Wellington late afternoon with increasing winds, chance of a shower about the Tararua Ranges at night. Sunny and warm in Wairarapa and Hawkes Bay with northeasterly breezes. Some high cloud developing during the afternoon and northwesterlies develop in Wairarapa mid afternoon.
HIGHS: Temperatures in the high teens in the west. Low 20’s about the Central North Island. 23-24 about Wairarapa and Hawkes Bay.

Upper South Island

Mostly sunny in Nelson with light winds and some high cloud, westerlies develop in the evening. Sunny areas to start on the West Coast north of Hokitika, cloud developing during the afternoon then the odd shower moves in at night. Mostly sunny in Marlborough and Canterbury with some high cloud, light winds freshen from the northwest in the afternoon.
HIGHS: 17 on the West Coast, low 20’s in Nelson. 24-26 in Canterbury and Marlborough.

Lower South Island

Cloud developing this morning on the West Coast south of Hokitika, , north to northwesterly winds increase. The odd shower in Fiordland from morning turning to rain at night, a few showers move in South Westland late afternoon. High cloud in Southland and Otago with increasing west to northwest winds after midday, northwesterlies strong about coastal Southland from afternoon. At night the odd shower may move into western parts of Central Otago.
HIGHS: 18-19 about Southland, 23-24 for Otago, 16 on the West Coast south of the Glaciers.
