Sunday’s national forecast

> From the WeatherWatch archives

The remnants of yesterday’s big low will keep our weather pretty unsettled today.  The strong winds will be backing off today and this will be the trend throughout the day.  No addtional heavy rain is expected.

Most of the precipitation will be found about central New Zealand this morning.  Showers will dot the western and upper North Island as well.  A few showers are even possible for eastern Canterbury.  That means both Auckland and Christchurch could see a few showers this morning.  But Wellington will have a better chance at precipitation this morning.

This afternoon, the main area of precipitation will head north.  So areas like Hamilton and Tauranga that may not see morning showers, will have a better chance of seeing afternoon showers.

On the South Island, showers chances will end this afternoon.  However, showers could pop up about the deep south toward sunset.
