Sunday’s national forecast

> From the WeatherWatch archives

A cold front moves into the North Island today bringing some rain and showers from the west while conditions dry out for a time in the South Island’s west ahead of the second cold front arriving later today.

NORTH ISLAND:
Rain in the morning from the Tasman Sea. It may be patchy and showery for some. Heaviest downpours look to be from Taranaki to western coastal Waikato or Auckland. It will spread eastwards north of Hawke’s Bay across the day with clearing/drying skies behind it. NW winds turning W to SW for many.
Highs: 17 to 23

SOUTH ISLAND:
Another cold front heads north today with heavy falls later on the West Coast. Some patchy light rain spilling east into Otago and Southland for a time, maybe Canterbury too. Windy at times from the westerly quarter. Sunniest in Nelson and Marlborough but Canterbury looks pretty good too.
Highs: 13 to 21
