A weak area of high pressure remains over the country with Cyclone Gita well out to sea in the Tasman helping create a more humid nor’east flow around northern New Zealand.

A storm well in the Southern Ocean continues to just brush the very southern part of the country.

NORTH ISLAND:
Clouds increasing, especially in the north, with humid NE breezes developing in the north. Light winds elsewhere. A few random showers here and there. Hot in the east with highs in the 30s.
Highs: 23 to 32

SOUTH ISLAND:
Light winds for most but westerlies a little brisk through the mountains and coastal Southland. Dry but some evening rain for coastal Southland. Heavy rain in Fiordland.
Highs: 19 in the south to 30 in the north east.
