Upper North Island

A few morning showers then expect a mix of sun and cloud with west to southwesterly winds.

Lower North Island

Any morning showers clear then expect sunny spells with west to southwesterly winds. Along the east coast a few showers move through the Wairarapa this morning then into Hawkes Bay and Gisborne this afternoon, clearing this evening.

Upper South Island

Morning showers clear then becoming mostly sunny, the odd shower lingers along the West Coast. West to northwesterly winds build about inland Canterbury from afternoon.

Lower South Island

Mostly sunny with some developing high cloud, northwesterly winds freshen becoming strong at times from this afternoon. Rain moves into Fiordland around midday then spreads northwards this afternoon and evening. Rain moves into Southand this evening then Otago overnight with a gusty southwest change.

… well, that’s what the morons at N.Z. Meteorological Service reckon …so much for N.Z.’s international image coming from the ‘main’ government agency representing weather forecasting in N.Z. They are a joke and have been for some time!
