Upper North Island

Early rain eases to showers, showers may become heavy late afternoon / evening with a chance of thunderstorms. The Bay Of Plenty sees rain with heavy falls at times for much of today. Winds from the northeast, tending more northwest from late afternoon Auckland northwards.

Lower North Island

Showers with east to northeasterly winds. Heavy falls possible about Taranaki from midday and elsewhere late afternoon / evening, may even be a thunderstorm then easing at night. Along the east coast expect periods of rain or showers with northeasterly winds.

Upper South Island

Areas of rain, heavy about Nelson and especially Tasman. Winds mostly from the east. North Westland sees dry areas becoming more frequent from evening.

Lower South Island

Mostly sunny about Southland and inland Otago with a touch of high cloud possible, cloudy areas about coastal Otago. Easterly winds.
