Clouds increase across the country today as a colder change moves slowly up the South Island while humid conditions spread down over much of the North Island.

Upper North Island:
Cloudy or mostly cloudy and humid.  Light winds or light northerlies. Drizzle and showers developing today, especially nearer to the Tasman Sea.
Highs: 23 to 25

Lower North Island:
Clouds thickening with brisk north to north west winds around Cook Strait, lighter winds elsewhere. Hottest in the east. Showers moving in from the west.
Highs: 22 to 28

Upper South Island:
Showers on the West Coast easing. Dry or mostly dry elsewhere. NW winds turn southerly quarter later and become cooler.
Highs: 21 to 23

Lower South Island
A few showers with cooler southerly quarter winds.
Highs: 14 to 18
