Upper North Island

Mostly cloudy with areas of rain or drizzle, big dry periods likely. From evening there may be the odd isolated heavy fall, this is more likely just offshore but could come on land at times. Breezy east to northeasterly winds.

Lower North Island

Cloudy with breezy east to northeasterly winds, patchy rain or drizzle with dry spells at times also.

Upper South Island

Mostly cloudy with northeasterly winds, a few showers about with rain for the Tasman Bay area. Dry areas at times also especially along the east coast.

Lower South Island

Cloudy with patchy rain or drizzle, rain may be heavy at times about Fiordland and perhaps Southland. Winds from the northeast mostly although light and variable about Southland and Otago especially inland.
