Upper North Island

A mix of sun and cloud with northwesterly winds, cloud increases overnight.

Lower North Island

Sunny areas and some cloud in the west, showers overnight. Northwesterly winds. Mostly sunny along the east coast with some high cloud, northwesterlies.

Upper South Island

Showers in the west, rain about South Westland with heavy falls moves northwards in the afternoon then easing later in the evening as gusty northwesterlies change southwest. Plenty of high cloud along the east coast with gusty northwesterlies developing this afternoon, the odd spot of rain possible from midday. Overnight a southerly change about Canterbury may bring a few showers.

Lower South Island

A few spots of rain this morning then northerlies change west to southwesterly this afternoon bringing a few showers, showers clearing this evening with westerlies becoming strong about coastal Southland.
