Upper North Island

Rain this morning with heavy falls and thunderstorms possible, easing this afternoon as northerlies change westerly. Rain may not ease about the Bay Of Plenty till later in the evening.

Lower North Island

Mostly cloudy with a few showers about, especially in the west where there may be some rain. Northerly winds change  west to northwest this evening with showers mostly clearing.

Upper South Island

Nelson and Marlborough see heavy rain ease this morning. Mostly cloudy on the West Coast with showers or some rain at times. Canterbury sees sunny spells with light winds, inland heavy isolated showers may develop late afternoon / evening.

Lower South Island

Cloudy areas about Southland and Otago, the odd shower possible mainly this afternoon with a chance of a thunderstorm then easing in the evening. The West Coast sees mostly cloudy skies and the odd shower, northwest winds change northerly.
