Upper North Island

Sunny areas and increasing high cloud, some rain moves into Northland during the afternoon then perhaps Auckland overnight. Rain may be heavy in the east and in particular Great Barrier Island / Coromandel overnight. North to northeast winds.

Lower North Island

Mainly sunny along the east coast (Gisborne to Wairarapa), light winds may tend northwest. In the west expect cloudy areas with the low risk of a shower or two otherwise mainly dry. Sun a little more frequent from afternoon, west to northwest winds. Wellington is mostly sunny with breezy northwesterly winds.

Upper South Island

Cloudy areas on the West Coast, some rain south of about Hokitika with the odd heavy fall however perhaps spreading into Greymouth and a little further northwards in the evening. Sunny areas and some high cloud along the east coast, northwesterly winds. Cloud a little thicker about the likes of South Canterbury where there may be a spot of rain, mainly in the morning.

Lower South Island

Rain for South Westland, heavy at times. High cloud out east, a spot of rain may spread into coastal Otago at times especially in the north. Winds from the northwest.
