Upper North Island

Areas of cloud with westerly winds, the odd shower possible too mainly this morning.

Lower North Island

Sunny areas with west to northwesterly winds, chance of the odd shower about otherwise mainly dry. Wellington sees sunny areas and gusty northwesterly winds. Overnight showers move in to the west from Wellington up through to Taranaki. Mostly sunny on the east coast with warm afternoon temperatures in the mid to late 20’s, northwest winds.

Upper South Island

Cloudy in the west with a few showers then some afternoon rain, easing back to showers by late afternoon as northwesterly winds change southwest. The east coast has sunny areas and increasing high cloud, northwesterly winds. Late afternoon or evening a southerly change pushes into Canterbury bringing some cloud and the risk of a shower, especially later in the evening and overnight. Marlborough may see a shower late evening or overnight.

Lower South Island

Rain in the west eases to showers this afternoon as a southwest change pushes through. Showers move into Southland this morning then Otago around midday as northwest winds change southwest, warm before the change moves through.
