Upper North Island

Areas of cloud with northeasterly winds, a few showers about, more so as the day goes on but some areas may remain fairly dry through much of the day.

Lower North Island

Morning sun then clouds builds in the afternoon, isolated showers moving in after midday especially out west about the likes of Taranaki where there could be heavy falls and a chance of thunderstorms then easing later in the evening. Winds from the northeasterly generally but tending southeast after midday about the likes of Wellington.

Upper South Island

Mostly cloudy skies with east to northeast winds, patchy drizzle moving in after midday gradually turning to areas of rain for some. Rain may become heavy for parts of Nelson and Marlborough by evening.

Lower South Island

Cloudy skies in the east and about Southland with south to southeasterly winds, the odd drizzle patch about mainly after midday. Sunny areas and some high cloud on the West Coast south of about Greymouth.
