Upper North Island

Rain moves through in the morning then clearing by or around midday as northwesterly winds change southwest, sunny areas in the afternoon.

Lower North Island

Early rain eases to showers in the west, winds breezy to brisk from the west. Morning rain clears the east coast then becoming mostly sunny with westerly winds. Showers may affect southern parts of the Wairarapa from afternoon however on a southerly change, a chance showers could be heavy with thunderstorms then clearing later on. Wellington sees early rain clear then expect some sun, showers develop in the afternoon possibly heavy with thunderstorms on a southerly wind change.

Upper South Island

Showers for most regions, some may be heavy with hail. A chance of thunderstorms too mainly in the afternoon along the east coast. Mostly sunny for Marlborough however showers moving in during the afternoon for southern parts of the region possibly heavy with t/storms. Nelson mainly dry for much of the day but cool.

Lower South Island

Showers, some may be heavy with hail. Even a chance of thunderstorms for parts of Northern Otago in the afternoon then easing evening. Winds fairly chilly from the west or southwest.
