Upper North Island

Sunny areas and some cloud about, winds from the west or southwest. About the Bay Of Plenty winds may tend northerly this afternoon.

Lower North Island

Sunny areas and some cloud, westerly quarter winds. About Wellington expect brisk north to northwesterly winds. Along the east coast from Gisborne through to the Wairarapa expect mostly sunny weather, light winds at first then afternoon east to northeasterly winds.

Upper South Island

Cloudy along the West Coast with areas of rain, sunny areas and some cloud in the east after any morning fog breaks away. Late afternoon there may be an isolated shower in Canterbury then this chance extends to Marlborough and Nelson in the evening.

Lower South Island

Cloudy in the west with some rain. Out east expect fairly cloudy skies also with southerly winds, some rain moves in during the afternoon with the chance of a heavy fall / thunderstorms then easing in the evening.
