Upper North Island

Mostly cloudy with the odd sunny spell, there could be a shower or two about also otherwise mainly dry. Breezy west to southwesterly winds.

Lower North Island

A few morning showers clear in the west and about Wellington then expect sunny areas, westerly winds build from late morning. Later in the evening a south to southwest change brings further showers. Morning showers clear in the east then expect mostly sunny weather from afternoon, west to northwesterly winds build however becoming gusty later. Winds change southerly overnight bringing further showers.

Upper South Island

Cloudy in the west with the odd shower, rain developing in the afternoon then easing back to showers later in the evening as westerly winds change southwest. On the east coast expect mostly sunny weather, late afternoon or evening southwesterlies move through bringing showers. Showers may contain small hail and could bring a low level snow flurry or two overnight to Canterbury. Nelson sees areas of cloud and the odd sunny spell, breezy westerly winds ease tending southerly later in the evening.

Lower South Island

Wintry showers move into Southland in the morning then Otago by midday with a strong cold southwest change, snow flurries to low levels from late afternoon or evening. The West Coast south of the Glaciers sees areas of rain develop during the morning then easing to showers in the afternoon with a southwest change, showers clear by evening.
