Upper North Island

Periods of cloud with brisk west to southwest winds, occasional showers with dry spells too. Showers more frequent early afternoon.

Lower North Island

Brisk to strong westerly winds, cloudy periods and occasional showers. Mainly dry on the east coast and about Wellington however with brisk west to northwest winds then easing evening, sunny areas and some cloud.

Upper South Island

Mostly sunny about Nelson and Marlborough with brisk southwesterlies easing in the evening. Canterbury sees morning showers clear then sunny areas develop with southwesterlies, showers develop again late afternoon / evening. Cloudy spells on the West Coast with occasional showers.

Lower South Island

Brisk west to southwesterly winds with occasional showers, a risk of some small hail too.
