Sunday’s national forecast

> From the WeatherWatch archives

A dry and quiet Sunday is expected across the country today.

The large Tasmanian high will continue to slide slowly east today.  That will keep New Zealand under its influence.  As a result, it will be very easy for the atmosphere to produce a fairly sunny and comfortable day.

Skies may lean more toward the cloudy side in the deep south of the South Island.  But no precipitation is expected.  A few showers may try to get going on about Gisborne and the East Cape, but chances are very small.  The same goes from the West Coast.

Highs today will be quite mild.  Look for temperatures to top out in the upper teens to lower 20’s.
