Conditions ease tonight as a disturbance, mainly across the North Island passes out to the east of the country. A weak ridge of high pressure moves in but only hangs around briefly as another low brews in the Tasman Sea.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato, CNI & BOP
Showers, a few may be heavy then easing and clearing during the night. West to northwest winds ease too. Coolest temperatures tonight about the Waikato and Central North Island, milder lows for coastal areas.
Lows tonight: 8-12

Eastern North Island
The odd shower clearing during the night, parts of Hawkes Bay and northern Wairarapa may see a period of rain early this evening then easing. Winds tend southwest.
Lows tonight: 8-10

Western North Island
The odd shower clearing tonight, light winds.
Lows tonight: 8-10

Marlborough, Nelson & Wellington
Mainly cloudy with light winds tending southerly for Marlborough and Wellington, the odd shower at times clears by dawn tomorrow.
Lows tonight: 7-10

Canterbury
Cloudy with drizzle patches easing through the night, light easterlies.
Lows tonight: 7-8

West Coast
The odd shower with light winds, some rain about South Westland.
Lows tonight: 8-10

Southland & Otago
Fairly cloudy skies, winds from the east. Drizzle patches too, mainly for eastern Otago.
Lows tonight: 5-8
