Strong winds have moved in to Christchurch this afternoon.  The nor’westers are averaging 50km/h with gusts close to 80km/h.  Inland it’s estimates winds are much stronger and drivers are advised to drive with caution.

Gusty winds are also affecting Oamaru, Gore and Invercargill.
