A strong westerly continues to blow across a number of exposed regions this afternoon ahead of a cold change arriving in the south tomorrow.
WeatherWatch.co.nz says that winds are gusting aroun 60 or 70km/h in a number of main centres including Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga, Rotorua, Napier, New Plymouth, Palmerston North, Levin, Paraparaumu, Wellington, Kaikoura, Dunedin, Westport and Invercargill.
Tomorrow a late southerly change will move up the South Island knocking temperatures back significant for some.
The southerly change will be strong in exposed areas but damaging gusts aren’t predicted.
The government forecaster says severe gales for today in Wellington and Wairarapa should ease around now.

Been real windy here all day. Tried to get to MetService for the past few hours to have a look at the wind speed, but they appear to be down. As in FAILdown.
