Southerlies have seen temperatures take a dive this afternoon in Canterbury, with single figure temperatures becoming the norm in eastern areas of the mainland.
Although skies appear rather ominous, not too many showers are sweeping exposed regions.
The southerly is expected to pay just a quick visit to the south for the remainder of the day, as settled conditions are expected to return tomorrow.
Sunday may see cold and wet conditions to for a time in some central and eastern parts of the North Island but at this point, nothing too severe with a little snow possible at higher levels and likely to affect the Desert Road.
