The heat rolls on into another day over the mainland, with temperatures hitting the high 20’s in some cases.

Christchurch airport is now 24 degrees but the central city is on 26 under cloudless skies and a light nor’ easter. Fendalton, Barrington and Halswell in the southern and western suburbs of the city, have topped 27 degrees.

Other parts of Canterbury are also feeling the heat, with Ashburton and Timaru in the mid 20’s. North and Central Otago, plus Dunedin, are also clocking in with very warm temperatures this afternoon.
