Snow warnings are out for the Desert and Rimutaka Hill roads.
MetService says snow could accumulate up to five centimetres deep on the highest parts of the Desert Road in the central North Island between nine o’clock tonight and midday tomorrow.
The AA advises winter driving conditions already exist on the Central Plateau, with motorists being warned to watch for ice and grit. Snow showers are also expected to develop near the Rimutaka summit north of Upper Hutt during the early hours of tomorrow morning.

Yep, certainly looking a bit nasty down your way!
Just getting the final flick of this wintry low that’s been affecting us since Saturday.
Unsure just how much you’ll get… as the showers weaken the further north you are. Either way – a wintry day on the way before that highs kicks in on Wednesday!
Keep us updated with conditions your way
Cheers

we just had a moderate hail shower with a bit of sleet thrown in for good measure around 6.30pm; wind has been strong at times from the SSW, and it’s between 5 and 6 deg C at present…and all heading your way…I reckon you may well see it around 11pm tonight! You can let me know!!! 8 – D
