Slip on SH2, Bay of Plenty

> From the WeatherWatch archives

Torrential rain is affecting northern New Zealand with the severe weather already taking its toll in Bay of Plenty.

WeatherWatch.co.nz expects heavy rain to continue this afternoon, overnight and into tomorrow in the form of heavy showers.

A slip has partially blocked State Highway 2 near Opotiki.  Motorists are being diverted in the town of Waihi – due to a hole in State Highway 25 – between Clarke St and Seddon St.

Police say traffic is being diverted around the northern side of the town. It is not clear how long the highway will be closed.
