Showers on and off for some on Wednesday – The Big Picture

> From the WeatherWatch archives

On Wednesday we have a front clearing the upper North Island early in the morning, moving off to the northeast, and a weak ridge moving onto Central NZ during the day.

Early rain and showers clear from the upper North Island to leave sunny areas, and in the late afternoon and into evening, a few further isolated showers might move through, along with winds from the westerly quarter.
The lower North Island can expect mostly sunny weather.

For the South Island, cloudy areas dominate in the west, along with west to southwest winds, and the chance of a brief shower now and then.
Along the east coast it’s mainly sunny, with afternoon easterly breezes along the coast.
Southland can expect gusty westerlies during the day with cloudy areas, and the odd brief shower is possible at times – otherwise mainly dry.
