Showers move in but no thunder yet

> From the WeatherWatch archives

A band of heavy showers is marching across the central North Island this afternoon but so far no thunderstorms have developed.

This morning MetService meteorologists predicted a moderate chance of thunderstorms over the upper North Island as a weak cold front and afternoon heating combined.

As of 2:50pm no area of thunderstorms had developed however the risk for thunderstorms developing would remain until this evening.

Elsewhere conditions remain relatively quiet.
