Shortest day leaves our shores

> From the WeatherWatch archives

Temperatures today were a tad on the cool side up and down the country and temperatures started to tumble once darkness fell.

Skies are still fairly cloudy from parts of Gisborne down to Canterbury, with a few showers but elsewhere clear skies appear as if another frost is on the cards tonight.

This looks likely in these regions for the next 2-3 days, with sunny and cool days followed by frosty and chilly nights.

Inland areas tonight should see the heaviest frosts with temperatures at there coldest around sunrise tomorrow morning.
