A band of rain is moving in towards the Auckland region from the Tasman Sea this evening and has the potential to cause isolated areas of surface and flash flooding.
The incoming front has a few thunderstorms in it as well bringing the potential for hail.
Downpours and possible hail could make driving hazardous at times – drivers are advised to be prepared for possible surface flooding and slippery conditions.
Due to the nature of this front there is also the risk of an isolated small scale tornado.
The risk for showers develops soon but the band of rain isn’t expected until after 8pm.
For the most part WeatherWatch.co.nz doesn’t expect many issues with this band of rain and sometimes these particular fronts weaken as they move over the Waitakere Ranges – but the risk for isolated areas of severe weather is there this evening between 8pm and midnight.
