Saturday’s weather extremes

> From the WeatherWatch archives

It looks like today’s hottest temperatures will be found over the northern and western North Island.

From Northland to New Plymouth, highs in the mid and upper 20’s will be common.  Of the main city centres, Hamilton will probably be the hotspot today with a high of 27.

The coolest highs will be found along the eastern shores of the lower South Island.  The coolest spot of the main city centres should be Dunedin with a high of 17.

Winds will be picking up a bit for the Wellington area.  But the windiest spot today is expected to be Gisborne with winds as high as 45 km/h this afternoon.
