Saturday’s national forecast – SE airflow North Island

A southeasterly airflow lies over the North Island today, high pressure further south with more settled weather.

North Island

In the east expect cloudy skies, rain or showers for Hawkes Bay and Gisborne. Out west skies are sunnier but there may be some high cloud. Winds from the south or southeast.

South Island

Mostly sunny after any early mist or fog patches clear, a touch of high cloud during the day. There may be some early cloud along the east coast which breaks away but Marlborough and perhaps the Kaikoura area sees cloud hang around for most of today. Some mid level cloud gradually moves into South Westland also, especially Fiordland with a few light showers there later on. Northeasterlies pick up this afternoon along the east coast, lighter northerlies out west.
