A north to northeasterly airflow lies over New Zealand today, expect rain for the West Coast and showers for the western North Island. Drier and warmer in the east mostly but expect showers about the far south with a chance of thunderstorms.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Quite cloudy with the odd shower, showers more frequent for Bay Of Plenty from afternoon. Northeasterly winds.

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Plenty of high cloud, the odd shower about Taranaki and Kapiti then spreading elsewhere in the afternoon. Light winds or tending north to northeast.

Eastern North Island
High cloud, a shower or two possible for Gisborne and Wairarapa late afternoon / evening. Northeasterly winds.

Wellington
Mostly cloudy, the odd spit of rain possible. Northerly winds.

Rain pushes into Nelson in the morning, rain a little more scattered for Marlborough. North to northwesterly winds.
