A subtropical low lies just north of the North Island today while a weak ridge of high pressure lies over the South Island. Expect rain for northern parts of the North Island and in the east. In the South Island conditions are mainly dry although expect some shower activity about Fiordland.

Northland
Rain, possibly heavy at times with brisk southeasterly winds tending more southerly in the evening. Rain eases evening onwards to showers.
Highs: 15-16

Central North Island, Waikato & Auckland
Cloudy with easterly breezes, a few areas of scattered rain move in during the morning but expect dry spells at times. Winds tend more southeast in the evening with shower activity easing. Winds about Auckland will be brisk.
Highs: 13-16

Bay Of Plenty
Rain with brisk easterly winds, rain eases to showers at night as winds tend a little more southeast.
Highs: 15-16

Eastern North Island
Cloudy with easterly breezes, areas of rain develop about Gisborne and Hawkes Bay during the morning then spreading into Wairarapa in the evening. Wairarapa should see a few sunny spells in the morning before clouding over by midday.
Highs: 15

Western North Island
A few early areas of sun, high cloud then thickening from morning and skies becoming totally cloudy by late afternoon. Easterly breezes.
Highs: 16-17

Wellington
Morning sunny spells however cloud increases in the afternoon with easterly breezes.
Highs: 14-15

Marlborough & Nelson
Sunny spells and some cloud with light winds, tending easterly about Marlborough.
High: 16

Canterbury
Cloudy periods at first but sunny breaks developing into the afternoon, northeasterly breezes.
High: 14

West Coast
Sunny with a few clouds about, showers for Fiordland. Light winds tend northeast.
Highs: 14-15

Coastal Otago
Cloudy spells with the odd sunny break at times, breezy northeasterly winds.
Highs: 10-11

Central Otago
Cloudy skies with light northerlies, a few spots of rain possible late evening.
High: 11

Southland
Fine with high cloud and northeasterly winds, a few spots of evening rain possible.
High: 12
