Generally settled weather today under anticyclonic conditions, a front approaches the far southwest corner of the South Island this afternoon. Frosty conditions to start for many.

Northland
Sunny skies with light southerly breezes, dying out in the evening. There may be some cloud at times along the west coast.
High: 12-13

Auckland
Mainly sunny skies with light south to southwest breezes. Later in the evening some cloud forms in the west and there may be a shower or two develop overnight.
Highs: 12-13

Bay Of Plenty, Waikato & Central North Island
Mainly sunny skies with light winds tending southwest. In the afternoon there may be some cloud at times for the Waikato and southern Central North Island and even a shower or two is possible for these areas later in the evening or overnight.
Highs: 9-13

Eastern North Island
Becoming mostly sunny in the morning, light winds. A few showers about Gisborne however clear in the morning to a mostly sunny afternoon. About Wairarapa and perhaps Hawkes Bay there may be some high cloud in the afternoon and then evening respectively.
High: 11-13

Western North Island
Morning sunny spells then cloudy periods slowly increase, west to northwest breezes. Late afternoon or evening the odd shower moves in also.
Highs: 11-13

Wellington
Sunny spells and some cloud and northerly breezes.
Highs: 10-11

Canterbury, Marlborough & Nelson
Sunny with light winds after morning frosts.
Highs: 9-11

West Coast
Cloudy periods with the odd sunny spells, there may be a brief light shower at times otherwise mainly dry with west to southwest winds. In the evening cloud thickens then showers develop overnight.
High: 10-11

Coastal Otago
Sunny skies with a few whiffs of high cloud at times from midday, light winds.
High: 8-10

Central Otago
Mostly sunny with some high cloud increasing from midday after a frosty start, there may be a few patches of fog about to start the day also. A gentle breeze from the northwest. In the evening the odd shower starts to spread from the west but mainly for western parts of the district.
High: 4

Southland
Sunny spells and thickening high cloud with northwest breezes, the odd shower develops in the afternoon.
Highs: 8-9
