Strong low pressure anchored over the Tasman Sea will keep rain going across much of the country today.

Upper North Island

Breezy with mainly cloudy skies with periods of showers.  A few heavy showers possible this afternoon.

Highs 20-24

Lower North Island

Breezy with cloudy skies with numerous periods of showers.  Some heavy rainfall is possible this afternoon and this evening.

Highs 16-20 in the east, 14-18 in the west and south

Upper South Island

Cloudy and windy with rain likely.  Heavy rain is expected, especially over the far northwestern sections of the Mainland.

Highs 12-16

Lower South Island

Becoming windy with mainly cloudy skies with showers likely for southern Canterbury and eastern Otago.

Highs 12-16
