A series of fronts push northwards over New Zealand today in a southwesterly airflow.
Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Some morning rain then easing to a few showers, clearing evening. Some afternoon sun may break through but expect plenty of high cloud. Showers for Bay Of Plenty and Northland may become heavy with a rumble of thunder in the afternoon then easing evening. Northwesterlies change southwest around midday.
Highs: 23-26
Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Early rain eases to showers, mostly clearing in the afternoon with some sun then breaking through. Northwesterlies tend westerly by midday.
Highs: 18-23
Eastern North Island
High cloud, some sun. A late afternoon or evening southwest change brings a few showers. Drying out for a time at night then by dawn on Sunday a few showers move back in.
Highs: 26-30
Wellington
Any early showers clear, afternoon sun breaks through. Northwesterlies change southerly overnight with patchy showers or drizzle.
High: 21
Marlborough & Nelson
Mostly sunny with some high cloud, cloud and a few showers develop in the evening about Marlborough as northwesterly winds change southerly.
Highs: 23-25
Canterbury
Morning sun then showers develop in the afternoon as light winds change southerly, showers may turn to rain for inland areas then easing and clearing overnight.
Highs: 19-23
West Coast
Some morning rain then easing to showers, clearing in the evening. Sun breaks through at times from afternoon. Southwesterly winds.
Highs: 16-19
Southland & Otago
Morning showers then sunny spells increase from afternoon, a shower or two may linger through till evening otherwise becoming mainly dry. Cool southwesterly winds.
Highs: 13-16
