A large anticyclone centred out to the east of the North Island controls most of New Zealands weather today bringing mainly settled conditions. Northwesterlies over the South Island brings some cloud in the west, easterlies about the far north of the North Island brings a few showers.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Mostly sunny, light winds. About Coromandel, Great Barrier Island and Northland expect areas of cloud and the risk of a shower at times with easterly winds. Fog or mist patches south of about southern Auckland / inland areas morning and night.
Highs: 14-16

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Mostly sunny, cloudy areas about Taranaki and Kapiti spreading elsewhere late afternoon or evening. There may be a light shower or two about Taranaki and Kapiti during the day. Northerlies tend northwest around midday.
Highs: 10-14

Eastern North Island
Sunny with light winds, northwesterlies about Wairarapa.
Highs: 13-15

Wellington
Mostly cloudy, breezy northerly winds.
High: 13

Marlborough & Nelson
Sunny, may be a touch of high cloud. Light north to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 12-15

Canterbury
Mostly sunny with some high cloud, light winds.
Highs: 11-13

West Coast
Mostly cloudy about South Westland with northwesterlies and the odd shower, North Westland is mostly cloudy also but winds are lighter and conditions likely more drier.
Highs: 10-12

Southland & Otago
Sunny areas and some high cloud, west to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 9-13
